CNN Video Producer Greg Hughes was mocked, rebuked and corrected by White House Press Sec. Sarah Sanders Saturday for his false claim about President Donald Trump’s participation at the G7 summit.

Hughes had responded to a tweet by White House Social Media Director Dan Scavino, Jr., who posted a photo labeled, “A look at negotiations, from behind the scenes at the #G7Charlevoix Summit.”

Hughes declared the photo misleading, claiming it was a shot of a “group signing event” being portrayed by Scavino as “Trump seemingly holding court” with world leaders huddled around him.

“Congratulations! Once again, you are wrong,” Sanders tweeted to CNN’s Hughes, adding:

“There is no ‘some kind of group signing’ taking place. It was all negotiations.

“We were there. You were not.”

Sanders closed by asking if Hughes will post a retraction, now that she’s set the record straight”:

“@Scavino45 tweet is 100% factual. Will you retract your “clever” and completely inaccurate tweet?”

While Hughes’ Twitter profile identifies him as a Video Producer for “Inside Politics, by was of @ThisWeekABC,” it does note that “all dumb tweets” are his own (not the network’s).
