The Oakland Raider who sat during the National Anthem before Thursday night’s National Football League (NFL) game ended up sitting in the stands after he was ejected for pushing a referee.
The Raiders Marshawn Lynch sat in protest during the playing of the Anthem, as did Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Ukeme Eligwe, despite a new call for players to stand and respect the Anthem issued by President Donald Trump.
It was another act of disrespect that caused Lynch to sit out most of the game, however. After he elicited a penalty for “unsportsmanlike conduct,” Lynch protested by shoving one of the officials. As a result, Lynch was ejected from the game and, reportedly, ending up sitting in the stands to watch the remainder of the contest.
