Trump Warns Kim Jong-un: ‘Things Will Happen to Them Like They Never Thought Possible’

(CNSNews.com) – President Trump on Thursday reiterated his warning to the Kim Jong-un regime not to attack the U.S. or its territories or allies, saying the North Koreans “better get their act together, or they’re going to be in trouble like few nations ever have been in trouble in this world.”

“If North Korea does anything in terms of thinking about attack on anybody that we love or we represent, or our allies or us, they can be very, very nervous, I’ll tell you what,” he told reporters in New Jersey.

“And they should be very nervous, because things will happen to them like they never thought possible, okay?”

The North Korean military this week threatened to fire ballistic missiles into “areas around Guam” in order to “neutralize” what it says is a military threat from the Pacific U.S. territory.

On Thursday it added that it proposed to fire four intermediate-range Hwasong-12 missiles over Japan, to land in waters 30-40 km (18.6-24.8 miles) off Guam.

The strike proposal would be presented to Kim Jong-un by mid-August for his decision, it said in a statement carried by the official Korean Central News Agency.

Trump said Kim has “been pushing the world around for a long time.”

“North Korea better get their act together, or they’re going to be in trouble like few nations ever have been in trouble in this world,” he added.

Trump’s warning earlier this week that Pyongyang’s threats would be “met with fire and fury, like the world has never seen” drew some criticism from media commentators and some lawmakers from both parties. North Korea dismissed it as “nonsense.”

Trump prefaced his comments Thursday by saying those earlier remarks may not have been “tough enough.”

He said the North Koreans “have been doing this to our country for a long time, for many years, and it’s about time that somebody stuck up for the people of this country and for the people of other countries.”

Trump said the administration’s position was “backed 100 percent” by the U.S. military, and also enjoyed the support of “many other leaders.”

Asked whether a pre-emptive strike on North Korea was among the options under consideration, Trump replied, “We don’t talk about that – I never do.”

In a dig at the Obama administration, he continued, “I’m not like the other administration that would say ‘we’re going into [the ISIS-occupied Iraqi city of] Mosul in four months.’ I don’t talk about it. We’ll see what happens.”

Trump said what the North Korean regime has been “getting away with is a tragedy, and it can’t be allowed.”
