Netflix is keeping up its push into Europe, saying Thursday it will hire 400 more people in Amsterdam for its new European customer service hub.
Netflix is using its Amsterdam office as its new headquarters for its expansion into Europe, the Middle East and Africa. This expansion is critical for Netflix to maintain its speedy growth, since its expansion in the US, its biggest market, has slowed. The company also has to fight off Amazon, which is spending heavily on its own global expansion of its Prime Video streaming service.
In addition to new hires, Netflix is also investing in more European productions, including last month’s launch of “Las Chicas del Cable,” the company’s first original series from Spain. It plans to announce at least six new European originals before the end of the year.
