It’s been a slow news day, deal-wise, so I hope you’ll forgive me for posting “yet another hard drive.”

While supplies last (code for “this will probably sell out soon”), OfficeMax has the Seagate Expansion 1TB external hard drive for $59.99 shipped (plus sales tax in some states). That’s a solid 50 bucks off the regular price.

Granted, this same drive was $10 less back in November, but judging by the huge volume of e-mail I received (especially after the deal expired), lots of people are dying for a rebate-free drive in this price range.

You heard right: rebate-free! Usually you have to deal with one or even two of them to get this kind of price.

The aptly named Expansion is a pretty no-frills drive, offering a USB 2.0 interface and a better-than-average 7,200-rpm rotation speed. Also better than average: the two-year warranty.

As you can see in the photo, the drive is your basic black slab. It’s designed to sit flat, not upright, which probably won’t be an issue for most users. If you’re interested in a big chunk of storage on the cheap, grab this fast!

Bonus deal: You know that Cisco Umi video-calling thingy? It’s pretty cool, but insanely expensive at $600. From now until Saturday, February 5, Best Buy is doing a buy-one-get-one-free (BOGO) deal on the Umi. That means you can buy a pair for $300 each–still expensive, but a pretty huge savings.
